Heather Venkat lives and breathes to read and write. Her mind is always buzzing with new story ideas.
A Chicago-native (brutal winters), Heather grew up creating countless stories, including original works and fanfiction. Her first "book" as a child was about a juggling cat.
In 2017, she realized that she wanted to share her original fiction with the world and began pursuing traditional publishing for young adult and middle grade fiction. Heather is a proud member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She advocates for diversity and equality, is biracial, and is in an interracial marriage.
Heather is currently editing her 7th novel. She now lives in Arizona (brutal summers) with her husband, three cats, two leopard geckos, rescue dog Luna who participates in agility and is a certified therapy dog, and newest addition Lyla the puppy. She currently works as a veterinarian and in public health. Heather is especially addicted to coffee and enjoys swapping places with her identical twin sister.
